Re: ZendDBi (Maria 10.1) on IBMi crashes when creating tables

To close the loop on this one: this is working as designed. MariaDB/ibmdb2i sends an SQL CREATE TABLE command to Db2. IBM Knowledge Center https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_73/db2/rbafzhctabl.htm notes that If SQL names are specified and a user profile exists that has the same na...

Re: ZendDBi (Maria 10.1) on IBMi crashes when creating tables

Does the system already have a user profile named DUMMY by any chance? Or, alternately, does this fail if you use a schema name that doens't correspond to a user profile (maybe DUMMY2)? I'm seeing behavior similar to yours on my system when the MySQL schema has the same name as an existing user prof...

Re: ZendDBi (Maria 10.1) on IBMi crashes when creating tables

The mariadb error log should give you some additional clues. It is located in the mariadb data directory. By default this would be a file named /usr/local/mariadbdata/[your system name].err

Look at the end of that file after the crash occurs.

Re: Poor PHP/Toolkit performance the first time

Hi Richard, Have you narrowed down where precisely the different execution times are coming from? Off the top of my head, it sounds like the performance difference could be due to the SQL query processing rather than the middleware (toolkit/PHP). There are a number of SQL-related factors that could ...

Re: Foreign Key Support

I tried your recreate with ON UPDATE RESTRICT and found that the error is different (155 instead of 150). If this is true for you, then you have probably run into a different problem, one that is fixed in the source code (see 2012-11-07 patch at http://174.79.32.155/wiki/pmwiki.php/MySql/DB2StorageE...

Re: Foreign Key Support

Because DB2 for IBM i does not support ON UPDATE CASCADE constraints, the IBMDB2I storage engine cannot support them either. IBMDB2I uses the built-in constraint support of DB2.

See http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/iseri ... icmain.htm for info about the DB2 support.

Re: Multiple Instances of MYSQL on IBM

Multiple instances of MySQL need distinct port numbers (this is true on any platform that runs MySQL.) So the direct answer to your final question would be "No." Now if you have control over the naming of schemas, you could possibly run a single instance of MySQL where each school gets its own set o...

Re: Existing DB2 tables on MySQL

Assuming that your MySQL server is relatively quiet, you can look for QSQSRVR jobs that have the Current User set to the same profile as that which was used to start the MySQL server daemon. In the joblog for these jobs, you may be able to find a message that corresponds to the 2102 error. I can't t...

Re: Existing DB2 tables on MySQL

I created a DB2 table using the definition you provided. I was then able to "discover" it and query it with MySQL following the steps in the YiPS document. I'm guessing there's additional complexity (indexes?, constraints?) in your case, but the table definition by itself doesn't seem to present a p...

Re: Existing DB2 tables on MySQL

This could be a problem that was found and fixed in IBM i 7.1 with PTF SI50864. Cover letter description: Attempting to use an IBMDB2I table from within MySQL may generate a MySQL error message and fail. The MySQL error message may look like "Got error 2021 'See message MCH1201 [or MCH3601] in joblo...
