mysql will not start with mac os x snow leopard

I am trying to install ZendServer-CE-5.3.0-4.0.5-darwin8.6-i386.dmg on the newly released Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. I was able to get apache and php working via the other thread, but mysql appears to either have no data, or have some problem that I don't understand. /usr/local/zend/mysql/data/my.c...

Re: Zend Server CE and Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

Hello, Just pass --socket=/usr/local/zend/mysql/tmp/mysql.sock to the mysqladmin binary. Let me know if you require further assistance, I noticed I had a /private/etc/my.cnf file that was pointing to the wrong directory. Also I forgot to mention, I am using the NEW 5.3.0 version. As you can see fro...

Re: Zend Server CE and Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

Ok, it turns out mysql is not running, when I try to start it, I get this error: ratbert[379]:/usr/local/zend/mysql/tmp # /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/mysql.server start Starting MySQL . ERROR! Manager of pid-file quit without updating file. Also, the file: /usr/local/zend/mysql/tmp/mysql.sock does not...

Re: Zend Server CE and Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

How should the mysql.sock be setup on 10.6? When I try to setup the root password, I get an error: ratbert[384]:~ # /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/mysqladmin -u root password yourrootsqlpassword /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Can't connect to local M...

Re: install html_quickform and html_table

I still have problems on my laptop, my desktop works fine.
ln -s /usr/local/Zend/share/pear /usr/local/PEAR
I don't see anything wrong with my path. Anyway, the sym link forces it to the right directory.

thanks,
Danny

Re: Changeing to port 80 ZCE 4.01 does not work

Ok, the problem was my doing. I had also created a sym link for document root, and in that directory, there was already a sym link for the location of the old ZendServer, in /Applications.

Re: Changeing to port 80 ZCE 4.01 does not work

Ok, now I am not sure what is going on. After a few minutes, and I guess the cache cleared, it stopped working again. All help would be appreciated.

thanks,
Danny
