Zend on i5/OS tuning conundrum

When running Zend Server on our i550 we notice that user response times are severely degraded at times of high CPU usage. When this happens typically several of the php-cgi.bin jobs running under the ZENDSVR instance in QHTTPSVR will be at MUTEX wait status. We've set the system to ensure that these...

Re: Zend Server becomes non responsive.

I fear that the problem in our case is that the server is not powerful enough. It's fine running "green screen" jobs, and also Websmart-ILE web processes (RPG programs running web pages), but the more load we put on it with PHP/Javascript etc, it seems to be doing this more. Just waiting for the co...

Optimizing Zend Performance

Hi, I have an IBM iseries server running Zend Server community Edition. Do I need to have ZENDSVR subsystem running, since this edition has no monitoring capability and I don't use any of its other components? The ZENDSVR apache appears to run independently in another subsystem. Would I achieve impr...

Re: can db2_connect adopt authority?

update: I am using Easycom to make my RPG program calls. Easycom have a directive in the php.ini to define the user default: i5comm.default_user This has successfully allowed me to make an i5_connect with blank parameters using the desired user that has no ability to sign-on. <php.ini> i5comm.defaul...

Re: Error Installing Zendserver 5.6.0

Rainer, I had a similar problem with iseries (v5r4): I was not able to upgrade from 5.0 to 5.6 without losing the built-in i5 capability. At that time (feb 12) XML Toolkit CW wrapper was not compatible with i5_query (require code changes to use db2_exec & db2_fetch) I also had trouble calling RPG400...

Re: can db2_connect adopt authority?

Hi Alan My problem is that user PROFILE1 does not have a sign-on password so I can't use it in the parameters of db2_connect(). I can connect with db2_connect using: 1. blank parameters (user: QTMHHTTP) 2. a new profile created with a sign-on However, both options require additional administration t...

Re: can db2_connect adopt authority?

Hi Alan Thanks for taking the time to reply. My explanation wasn't very clear, what I meant to say was: The aim is to have the adopted profile (let's call it 'PROFILE1') access my database files and programs. 'PROFILE1' does not have a sign-on for the i series. Files and programs already have 'PROFI...

can db2_connect adopt authority?

Hi, As I understand it, using db2_connect with empty parameters causes QSQSRVR to access all files with user profile 'QTMHHTTP'. This means the files/directories to be accessed must be authorised to user 'QTMHHTTP'. If I remove QTMHHTTP's authority to the files/directories is it possible to have db2...
