Incorrectly configured PHP Server warning by PhpMyAdmin

Postby kroleig1 on Fri Jul 20, 2012 6:03 pm

I have installed Zend Server CE Edition. PHP Ver. 5.3.14 And Zend FW Ver.1.11.12
I installed PHPMyAdmin and MySQL after the initial basic install.

This is the error I am seeing when I try to run PhpMyAdmin

phpMyAdmin - Error
Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly.

I installed the latest Zend Server CE version and it was loading the test page just fine.
I then went back to the setup file and checked the boxes to install MySQL and also PhpMyAdmin

I ran setup and configured PhpMyAdmin as I always do...

So I am new to Zend Server and I just got tired of setting up Php, MySQL and PHPMyAdmin manually everytime and thought Zend would do that for me.
I kept all settings default and chose recommended options. So is it supposed to be so difficult or is there other settings I always have to set once I install Zend Server?
Like, session.save path etc.. Any ideas or suggestions on the correct way to install everything with minimum effort?

thanks

Hi,

I just installed Zend Server CE the other day for the first time and had no problems. You shouldn't need to do separate installs and yes everything is installed as a package. If I was you I'd remove everything and re-install. But, before you re-install you should download "Zend-Server-CE-5.6-Installation-Guide-012212.pdf" and follow it.

Ok, I uninstalled and reinstalled choosing the full option.. This is supposed to install phpMyAdmin and MySqL for me..
However, i still have to set up phpMyAdmin.. So i created a folder for config as is said to do by the documentation. I set a password and save the configuration.. which is successful.

Then i try to login using the username and password (again checked this several times) and this is the error I get

#1045 Cannot log in to the MySQL server

No erros in Apache error log

Anyone have any ideas? I have seen this as a problem with others but no one seems to know why it is happening.

thanks,

Additionally what is the root password that is given by the Zend install for MySQL? I guess Im a little lost here.. I thought the main purpose for installing a package like this is that all this is done in one fell swoop.. I apologize if I annoy anyone on here and am missing the obvious. I updated the password myself.. but just wondering why it doesnt walk you through the install options. I guess its because the silent install avoids all the details?

nevermind.. I solved it.

Once you install Zend CE Server you have to manually configure PHPMyAdmin and also manually set the root password for the db as it wont connect without password, even if you choose 'connect without password' ... maybe they should just remove that option as its never worked for me.
