Well, they have implemented PHP 5.6 support almost when PHP 7 was released. So, you can expect PHP 7 support in ~2019-2020

As there is a x64 version of PHP 7 for Windows, it would be really great if the Zend Guard Loader would support PHP 7 sooner rather than later!

After much deliberation, Zend decided not to port Zend Guard to PHP 7 and beyond.

I was hoping for this update and at first I was strongly disappointed, but now after I've read your post I think I support this decision! Just keep up the good work guys and thanks for keeping your clients informed.

Just to give my comment as a former Zend-Guard customer: I was angry about the decision of Zend and how badly it was communicated to existing customers with valid support-contracts, that Zend Guard will not be available for PHP 7.0/7.1. It felt like Zend-Guard customers were 2nd class customers.

So my company was forced to make a decision, if we stay with the old (and soon outdated) PHP 5.6., or we change our business model, or we switch to a different product.

We do not want to change our business model, just because Zend changed theirs and using an outdated PHP version is also not an option. So I am very happy that some other company did upgrade their own product to 7.1. which we are using now for source-code protection instead of Zend-Guard without any problems.
