Could you elaborate on how much a "little longer" would be?
Since to previous statements this component should have been out for a month by now.

If Zend was to publish some insight of the current development status...

The unofficial date I have is the second quarter of the year.

Not precise or official but the only thing we have right now.
Best regards,
Massi.

Thanks for that response :) finally some answers on an ETA.
Still wondering tough why the release date is pushed back to 3-6 months later as previously announced?

At this point, I guess I'll be surprised if it comes out before the new year (2011)- and then add 6 months to a year for mainstream hosting to pick up 5.3.x once zend loader / guard covers 5.3.x.

hm.

"The unofficial date I have is the second quarter of the year."
This year? or next year...

Thats is enough information for me.
My webhosting company will stop the support for Zend Optimizer.

I'm now in a related, but even lower bar issue- I have a client that is a publicly traded company with a windows server- we had to install PHP 5.2.9 so our zend guard encoded scripts would work with optimizer 3.3.3- but I just got a frantic call that they're not in PCI compliance without PHP 5.2.12- needing the unreleased optimizer 3.3.9 for windows which Kent talked about back in november.

All previous support and enthusiasm is evaporating quickly here. If you can't have a PCI compliant webserver capable of running zend guard encoded scripts what the heck do you have?

Zend Server is the answer for you.

It runs the PHP you need to be PCI compliant, if you install the Loader module you will be able to decode Zend Guard encrypted apps.

I guess you know where to find it, but anyhow here is the general link:
http://www.zend.com/en/products/server/

As you will see there is also there a link for the CE (Community Edition) version that may be enough for your needs.
Best regards,
Massi.
