I have been reading quite a bit about continually more sophisticated hacking tools and the methodology employed by "cyber thieves".
They seem to always be one step ahead of those who try to defeat them.
How do you think 5.3 will stand up to these folks?

I understand the difficulties in predicting when a product will be ready for release, as I suspect most people on this forum do as well.
For our planning though, some visibility on when a release might be ready would be helpful though.

Looking through the comments, the last real information was that it "might be ready" in July.

Well... I can't remember ever seeing a company embarrassing itself to such extent and for such a long time as Zend with this, really haven't.

That's already a never ending story and looks like they are unable to bring a compatible solution at all:

Citation:
"The problem is that as we looked into this it is simply not just Optimizer that needs to be updated but also Zend Guard. Zend Guard does not support PHP 5.3 and it appears that php 5.2 code, that is encoded with Guard, will not run properly in Optimizer/php5.3. So even if we released optimizer it probably would not work.
kentatzend, 2009 "

The damaged they caused is already enough for loosing their image and credability.

Give us working release for PHP 5.3.* god d... i can't work normally now, because many clients migrating to configured VDS with php 5.3.* and i have to configure their VDS so that my licensed apps would work there and i have to do it FOR EACH CLIENT! It's killing me.

We all have been waiting for it already more than a year.

Any official announcements?

Thanks!

PHP 5.2 is EOL and the next security update for 5.3, I'm going to be forced to ditch 5.2 as my PCI compliant clients will need to be on the latest security update. Despite 5.2 being EOL, the "maybe July/August" has come and gone, and no solution for 5.3 has yet emerged. I'm beginning to resign myself to the fact that I'm just going to have to give out source and watermark it. Of course now that I've said that, it will be released tomorrow, right?
