Zend Optimizer 3.3/PHP 5/GoDaddy

Postby jpehanick on Tue Sep 14, 2010 5:15 pm

Hello Everyone,
This week I have planned to go live with my site. I have purchased a Flash CMS Template from Templatemonster.com, and they have been customizing it for about a month. The only problem is, last week I downloaded the stock template to mess around with it. When I upload it to the server/website. It requests that I install Zend Optimizer:

http://www.joeypshotties.com/
http://www.joeypshotties.com/admin

As you can see, no template website, only Zend problems.

I have also read in some forums including this one, that there happens to be an issue with Go Daddy and Zend Optimizer and/or PHP 4 as of recent. This template uses PHP 5, but alas I have a predicament.
Templatetuning.com has informed me that preparing my site for Zend Optimizer is a hosting problem, not theirs.
GoDaddy has informed me that Zend Optimizer is an application problem, not theirs.

So, my very novice experience has lead me here. If someone could explain to me a bit more about Zend Optimizer is terms that I will understand, and how to install it, I would be most appreciative.

Sincerely,
JoeyP

Its very simple.
Here is a link to a solution:
http://help.godaddy.com/article/1232

Simply go to your file manager in go godaddy, and at he html section, click New. This will allow you to make a file. Copy and paste this there:
[Zend]
zend_optimizer.optimization_level=15
zend_extension_manager.optimizer=/usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer-3.3.3
zend_extension_manager.optimizer_ts=/usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer_TS-3.3.3
zend_extension=/usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer-3.3.3/ZendExtensionManager.so
zend_extension_ts=/usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer_TS-3.3.3/ZendExtensionManager_TS.so

Than save it as php.ini (for php 4) or php5.ini (for php5).

Just contact godaddy and upgrade to php5 if needed. They will do that for you. A simple tip: use a different host. Your problems will persist with them.
