Can I: Keep search resutls from more than one search?

Is there a way to have multiple 'tabs' or result sets from previous searches I have done?

When I search, there is only ever one list of results in the 'Search' tab. I would like to be able to have multiple tabs or sub tabs with previous search results of the current session.

Also, when I click on an instance of what I ave searched for, that file opens in a new tab... this is good, BUT if i click on another instance from the same search, it replaces the previously opened file with the new file I have clicked on. Is there a way to keep opening new tabs as I click on different search result records?
