How can I import v5.5 templates?

Postby rsalazarm on Tue Mar 24, 2009 4:19 am

Well, just that. I have quite some templates in v5.5 and I'd like to import them to try v6. Can you instruct me on how to do so?

Thank you.

There is no special function or wizard for this. However, for a PHP programmer there is no problem in transferring the templates.

The templates for ZDE 5.5 are stored in <home directory>/ZDE/config_5.5/templates in several XML files. The format is definitely different from the format understood by Zend Studio for Eclipse. I can't give you exact instructions, you need to check and apply this yourself:
1. In Zend Studio for Eclipse go to Window | Preferences
2. In the Preferences dialog open PHP | Templates
3. Select several templates (Shift+click, Ctrl+click) or all of them (Ctrl+A)
4. Click Export and save the resulting XML

The structure of both XMLs is quite obvious. Convert the old XMLs into the new format and import them (Import button on the Templates page in Zend Studio Preferences).

Hope this helps.

Not really what I was expecting, but it definitely helps, thank you.
—Maybe you could consider building a tool for this, it would help to migrate some users to the new ZS.
