Zend Studio 7.1 GA release

Post by kentatzend » Fri Dec 04, 2009 4:55 pm

We’re happy to announce the general availability of Zend Studio 7.1 – the website has now been updated to reflect 7.1 as the current production release.

Key new features of Zend Studio 7.1:
• Task-focused programming with Mylyn integration
o Track tasks (personal or shared) and resources associated with tasks, allowing integration with several different task repositories (e.g. Bugzilla, Trac, and JIRA)
• Remote server support
o Transparently upload, download, and synchronize project files to a remote server, while being alerted to any conflicts
• Phar support
o Short for “PHP Archive”, Phar support allows you to use Zend Studio to import/export entire PHP applications in a single file for easy distribution and installation
• Bug and performance fixes – over 250 bugs fixed
• Incorporated feedback from beta users

Alas the releasenotes do not tell anything about the 250 bugfixes, but focus on "new features".

I am interested in "old features" finally running again, so I need that list to decide, whether I dare to upgrade again or rather not.
Can you provide a link to that list?

Dear Zend Team,

First of all - thanks for the new release.

I tried to use the Eclipse update and got the following error:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software being installed: Zend Studio 7.1.0.v20091129 (com.zend.php.ide 7.1.0.v20091129)
Missing requirement: Zend Studio 7.1.0.v20091129 (com.zend.php.ide 7.1.0.v20091129) requires 'toolingcom.zend.php.ide com.zend.php.ide.launcher [7.1.0.v20091129]' but it could not be found

Any ideas?

Alex

Can you provide more details on what Eclipse flavor you use? in what platform? what features you selected and any other relevant information that we should know about?
We had many tests for the update mechanism and everything was ok, except for upgrading MAC OSX 7.0.2 to 7.1.0 which is impossible since we changed the carbon framework to cocoa.

Hi Roy,

Thanks to everyone on the Zend Studio development team for the latest release. I've been using the 7.1 beta for the last month and it has been stable, responsive (accept for very large files of 6 or 7000 lines of code), code completion has been pretty good (although there are a few areas that it seemed to be intermittent) and best of all the build process has been vastly with detailed feedback of the progress of the "build".

The new remote server feature was very exciting although that was quickly dampened by the lack of ability to sync the contents of the 2 selected folders - ZS7.1b always created a directory of the project name inside the remote server destination directory - rendering the whole feature useless for me (and I imagine a lot of other people).

So what happened when I installed the release version...

Stability, responsiveness and build process feedback all remain excellent - as far as I can tell from half a day of usage!
Code completion - I have yet to test thoroughly.
Remote Server sync - I was incredibly frustrated that ZS still forces the creation of a directory of the name of the project inside specified remote server path - I must say that I'm absolutely flabbergasted that it can't just sync the contents of the specified source and destination directories - there must be thousands of user like my self that have a set name for the remote web folder such as "web" or "www" or "htdocs" etc - are we supposed to call all of our projects by those names? For some very clever people - some decisions are pretty damn screwy! I'm hoping there will be some updates to resolve this issue very soon - although having said that we are also lookin ginto the possibility of using svn hooks to push files committed to specific "live" branch onto the live server so that all changes are tracked through svn.

So thank you Zend Studio team.

100% hit :-); I'm running 7.0.2 on a Mac.

Is there a simple way to transfer all the settings I did in the current installation? Not sure need to double check the documentation as well.

Hi,

will there be a release/solution for a native x64 environment on Windows available too? I can remember that there was a solution where you were able to add Zend Studio to a regular Eclipse 3.5 x64 installation...

Thanks,
Markus

IDK, I had nothing but problems and still haven't got it installed (OSX MBP)...
