Future of ZendCore

Post by scottgcampbell » Mon Jan 25, 2010 7:48 pm

With ZendServer being available on i5 now will ZendCore continue to be developed/supported/enhanced? Or should we be looking to migrate to ZendServer.

Thanks
Scott

Migrating to Zend Server would be the wisest option, since most of Zend's development efforts will be placed on the Zend Server line of products.

Zend Core will be still maintained and hotfixes released if necessary, mostly for issues related to security or PHP updates.

Zend Server is the best PHP stack ever released for i5/OS, having been built on the experience and best practices IBM and Zend developed together during these years of delivering Zend Core and Zend Platform.
Best regards,
Massi.

Having just installed the Beta version of ZendServer I would say the experience is much better than with ZendCore! I would move to ZendServer anyhow just to get the benefits of not having to deal with Proxy statements etc...
