New to PHP & Zend

Post by lenstoner » Thu Mar 18, 2010 9:18 pm

I'm new to this Zend Core stuff, but I'm attempting to learn this using Olen & Schroeder's "IBM i Programmers Guide to PHP". So far, all I've been able to do is install Zend Studio and make sure I have a connection to my iSeries server. I assume that I have to do all development in the RSE perspective, since the Zend Framework perspective would only allow me to save the file on my pc. The book says nothing about configuring the RSE session, but I managed to find that on the Zend site. I've started with a simple "HEllo World" file and cannot seem to open it in a browser ("Web page cannot be found"). I'm using "http://servername/mydirectory/hello.php". I've also tried placing the file directly in the htdocs directory without success. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them.

You need to post your configs before we can make sense of what you are doing. The apache server and proxy need to be set up correctly for the pages to be displayed.

I would suggest ZendServer as the best option for people who are not guru's on setting up apache because it makes things so much simpler. No More Proxy Server set up.

I have a number of posts about how to set up either server on my blog, take a look at those first to see if you need to post your configs for more assistance.
