initiate pcom session?

Postby greg7308 on Mon Mar 30, 2015 2:53 am

Is it possible to have a web page on the ibm i with a link to start a pcom green screen session on the users PC?

I can do this via VB for apps, but that is already running "locally".

I tried something like this but it didn't like the COM object ... https: / / msdn . microsoft . com /en-us/library/d5fk67ky%28VS.85%29.aspx

Curious mainly ...

IBM is phasing out the old iSeries Access and now has IBM i Access Client Solutions, which has a Java-based solution. If using the Java-based version you may be able to create a web launcher for the JAR file. I highly doubt anything will let you run .exe programs. Also you will likely need a trusted code signing certificate to make this work.

You can use WScript.shell in ActiveX to execute a command such as Windows 5250 emulator client session. For example:
function callShellApplication(){
var objShell = new ActiveXObject("WScript.shell");
objShell.run(' "C:\Users\sam\AppData\Roaming\IBM\Client Access\Emulator\private\Session1.WS" ');
