Where is the MySQL Data Stored

Post by jrmcgaha » Tue Jul 30, 2013 6:45 pm

I've been using the Zend Server on our iSeries for some time now and have many databases created with lots of data in each. I'm trying to ensure our backup strategy is properly backing up everything necessary.

Where is the actual MySQL data stored? In the IFS, I've found /root/usr/local/mysqldata, which does appear to have all my databases listed. Within each of the database named folders, there are files for each table with a .frm extension. These files appear to me to be the schema/meta-data only. Where is the actual Data?

Any recommendations on what all would need backed up would also be helpful. I know there are a few libraries (ZMYSQL, ZENDDBI) -- maybe there are more.

Thanks in advance.

And if you're using the IBMDB2I storage engine, try chapter 7 of
