V7R3 ZENDDBi MariaDB ends with "unknown option '--¬client|'"

Post by chri7796 » Fri May 18, 2018 2:53 pm

I have installed MariaDB on two IBM i 7.3 LPAR's without any problems - but the MariaDB server job won't start on any of them.

They both end with the following message found in /usr/local/mariadbdata/<server>.err error log:
[ERROR] /usr/local/mariadb/bin/mysqld: unknown option '--¬client|'
The full log from the latest start of the server looks like this:
180518 15:37:33 mysqld_safe Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /usr/local/mariadbdata

2018-05-18 15:37:36 1 [ERROR] Aborting
I suspected it could be caused by our language settings (we run sysval QCCSID 277 (Danish) ), so I tried setting the MYSQL user profile to English:

Code: Select all

CHGUSRPRF USRPRF(MYSQL) LANGID(ENU) CNTRYID(US) CCSID(37)
It didn't help - same error. Anyone have any idea what's wrong?!

Found it! The error was caused by some mysterious lines at the end of the my.cnf configuration file:

Code: Select all

************Beginning of data**************
[mysqld]
sql-mode=NO_AUTO_VALUE_ON_ZERO
innodb_flush_log_at_trx_commit=0
innodb_buffer_pool_size=100M
innodb_log_file_size=20M
innodb_log_buffer_size=8M
key_buffer_size=64M
table_cache=256
sort_buffer_size=4M
read_buffer_size=1M
bulk_insert_buffer_size=8M
port=3306
socket=/usr/local/mariadbdata/mariadb.sock
¬client|
socket=/usr/local/mariadbdata/mariadb.sock
port=3306
 ************End of Data********************
How on Earth these lines ended up in the configuration of a new installation is a big mistery to me!
