Job Logical Failure email not working

Postby jbgisser on Tue Oct 30, 2012 8:27 pm

I am not getting notification emails on Job Logical Failures.

I do have the jobs returning with the 'logically failed' status in the history, and I do have the Job Logical Failure rule set to Email under the Event Actions, and I have restarted the PHP server after making the changes.

I have also successfully received emails for other rules, so I'm pretty sure the email settings are okay in my Server Setup.

The only other clue of this problem is that it looks like the Job Logical Failure is supposed to report a 'Critical' event (according to the Event Action information) , but it doesn't do that either. So maybe there's something not working behind the scenes?

Any help would be appreciated.

I should correct the following:

There is an event marked as Critical, but I just didn't see it before.

Hi

Did you try something like this?
Code: Select all
ZendJobQueue::setCurrentJobStatus(ZendJobQueue::FAILED,"Failed Deliberately...");

zvika, thanks for the reply.
Yes, I've done that like this:
Code: Select all
        $jobq = new ZendJobQueue();
        $jobq->setCurrentJobStatus(ZendJobQueue::FAILED, 'testing failure');

and here is what I see in the history Error tab:
testing failure in /var/www/zendsvr/application/controllers/internal/QueueController.php line 100

And this is in the Output tab:
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
[snip]
X-Job-Queue-Status: 1 testing failure in /var/www/zendsvr/application/controllers/internal/QueueController.php line 100
Content-Length: 0
Connection: close

I've tested failed job emails against PHP errors, and indeed email is not being sent to defined SMTP as expected, and no error is given.
We'll open an internal bug to handle this issue.

Thanks for the report!

Question: Will this fix come out in the next hotfix, service pack, or version? Is there a Website where progress can be monitored? Thanks.

Hi

To your question
The bug is internal, there is no public tracker for internal bugs at this point.
We usually report back in the original location, such as customer support cases and forum threads, so there is a closure.

I found out a strange thing - I did get an email from the Failed Job event, but it had 24 hours delay!
Did you also get an event email with a long delay like me (assuming Jobqueue Daemon wasn't restarted soon after testing)?

Hi Zvika,

No, I have had no emails at all on this monitor...just on other ones.

Would there be a place where I could look to see if it's queued up somewhere?

Or does this mean we don't have some kind of service running? (I'm not a server person, so I really am just guessing)

Hi James

I wish to perform a similar test with a system similar to yours.
Please share which Linux you use, version and arch, and which Zend Server + PHP version you installed.

Thanks!
