ZendServer on ARM architecture?

Hi, recently, Server with ARM architecture has become a hot topic.

Does Zend have plan to implement Zend Server on ARM CPU ?

YOu are right there has been quite a bit of "hype" about ARM based server hardware. For Zend, the decision to support a new hardware architecture (or OS or Web Server) is based on the market. Right now there is not a lot of ARM based server technology out there but I suspect we'll start to see more and more. But I'd categorize it as "experimental" at this point. Once the hardware is readily available, we'd need the OS vendors to support it (RedHat, Canonical, etc.) and to port basic PHP and the extensions (and DB drivers and ...). THen We'd look at Zend's additional capabilities.

SO ... philosophically there is no objection. It just seems a bit early.

Hello, Mr. Kent Mitchell.

I agree with Your opinion basically, that the ARM server is still experimental and we need porting of various softwares by vendors.

There was an event called ARM Server Day, in SAKURA internet company on last Dec.
36 people attended from various electric makers and universities.
(SAKURA internet is one of big data center supplier in Japan )

I will inform All of You if I would have news in future.
