best regards,
daniel.
This worked for me. What I ended up doing was creating a very quick sh script that started just the apache server in zend and then this. The contents of this is below. You could probably start mysql with it too, but my job uses Oracle, so I didn't need to.

Code: Select all

/usr/local/zend/bin/zendctl.sh start-apache
/usr/local/zend/gui/lighttpd/sbin/lighttpd -m /usr/local/zend/gui/lighttpd/lib -f /usr/local/zend/gui/lighttpd/etc/lighttpd.conf
Note that this should be two lines, not the 3 it's displaying as.

I'm attaching a lighttpdctl.sh script that does not require the Watchdog utility as a temporary fix.
Please replace the one under: /usr/local/zend/bin/lighttpdctl.sh.

Thanks,
Hi Jess,

thanks for the workaround, I can confirm that it gives me access to the admin interface again. I still receive some warnings when calling zendctl.sh restart, it seems they are coming from the Java Bridge startup script, which also tries to use the watchdog and fails.

For completeness, I'll attach the console log from my latest zendctl.sh restart call.

Best regards,
Tobias

Thanks, Tobias.

Indeed the JB daemon also utilizes the watchdog which is the binary causing the issue.
This will be fixed for the next release.

Many thanks to you and everyone else on this thread for helping me find these issues :)

I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I went through uninstalling and installing a few times.

Is there a way for you guys to notify or post something on the download page that there's issues with the current release and Snow Leopard and/or a link to a quick fix for those who already have it installed?

How should the mysql.sock be setup on 10.6? When I try to setup the root password, I get an error:

ratbert[384]:~ # /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/mysqladmin -u root password yourrootsqlpassword
/usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (62)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' exists!

My .sock file is located under this location: /usr/local/zend/mysql/tmp/mysql.sock

Hello,

Just pass --socket=/usr/local/zend/mysql/tmp/mysql.sock to the mysqladmin binary.

Let me know if you require further assistance,

Ok, it turns out mysql is not running, when I try to start it, I get this error:

ratbert[379]:/usr/local/zend/mysql/tmp # /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/mysql.server start
Starting MySQL
. ERROR! Manager of pid-file quit without updating file.

Also, the file:

/usr/local/zend/mysql/tmp/mysql.sock

does not exist.

I noticed I had a /private/etc/my.cnf file that was pointing to the wrong directory. Also I forgot to mention, I am using the NEW 5.3.0 version. As you can see from my previous post, mysql is not starting.
