What is init.php?

Post by terr3089 » Tue Apr 19, 2016 4:12 pm

I have an AWS ZendServer 8.5 running on RHEL 7.2 and it is very unwell.

The problem is that in /etc/rc.local there is a call to

Whenever that runs it hits the disk very hard, so hard that the cpu is almost 100% in the wait state so the server is unusable. The cpu is waiting for I/O from the disk. So I have a couple of questions:

1. What is it for?
2. Why is is causing so many problems?
3. Can it be fixed?
4. Will anything bad happen if I leave it commented out in rc.local

I have been forced to comment it out in rc.local to get any response out of the server at all.

zs-init is Zend Server initialization system used to initialize Zend Server with various options during instance start.
You can read about it in "Zend Server 8 on Amazon Web Services – What’s New" and "More tools for Zend Server 8 on AWS Marketplace".
If you do not use user data to provide start up options to Zend Server and do not use CloudFormation template to run cluster, then you can disable it after first boot without any consequences.
I am curious what could possibly go wrong with zs-init because it is designed to run once on boot and that's it.
If you can send me /var/log/zs-init.log and /usr/local/zend/var/log/php.log files to my email dima.z@zend.com I would really appreciate it.
