The installation seems to be ok until now.
However I have an error message about Job Queue in the GUI interface:
- "The Job Queue service is not running. See the online help's 'Package Setup and Control Scripts' section to find out how to start the service"

So I tried to run it manually, /usr/local/zend/jqd.sh start and I get the following message:
vmserversnowleopard:bin root# ./jqd.sh start
Starting JobQueue [OK]
[10.11.2011 15:44:55 SYSTEM] watchdog for jqd is running.
[10.11.2011 15:44:55 SYSTEM] jqd is running.
vmserversnowleopard:bin root# ps aux | grep jqd
root 1949 0.0 0.0 2435032 424 s001 S+ 3:46PM 0:00.01 grep jqd
zend 1902 0.0 0.1 107344 4464 ?? Ss 3:44PM 0:00.07 /usr/local/zend/bin/jqd -f /usr/local/zend/etc/jqd.ini -e
zend 1900 0.0 0.0 90680 740 ?? Ss 3:44PM 0:00.01 /usr/local/zend/bin/watchdog -c /usr/local/zend/etc/watchdog-jq.ini -u 103 -g 103 -s jqd

What's wrong with the GUI ? I cannot edit the directives because it says it's not running.

I saw in the directives,
zend_jobqueue.default_binding = unix://jobqueue.sock I replaced it with /usr/local/zend/tmp/jobqueue.sock but it does nothing.

A tip, add in your /etc/bashrc the following command line to allow you to use the mysql, apache and zend binaries
export PATH=/usr/local/zend/bin:/usr/local/zend/mysql/bin:/usr/local/zend/apache2/bin:$PATH

Mysql doesn't work by me, I cannot start it, I think this for the following reasons:
- permissions for /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/mysql and /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/setup_mysql.sh was wrong by me, I set them to 665. Execute rights were missing.
- permissions /usr/local/zend/mysql/data is wrong. the owner should be "mysql"
- configuration file is in wrong place, copy the file /usr/local/zend/mysql/my.cnf to /etc/my.cnf, be sure to not overwrite an existing one
- set the datadir in /etc/my.cnf
[mysqld]
datadir = /usr/local/zend/mysql/data/mysql

Then you have to launch the script /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/setup_mysql.sh, it should init the mysql defaults databases (mysql, test, information) then enable MySQL in the file /etc/zce.rc, then start automatically mysql server.

No, my installation was done on a complete clean system in a virtual machine.
But I could try again on a new VM to be sure.

Is there any release or public beta date focused?

Hi,

I installed Zend Server on a fresh Lion setup and have the same problem mentionned in previous posts : I can't get MySQL running.

Could anybody from Zend provide a solution about this issue ? Do I have to run the native MySQL bundled with OSX or find a way to make the one bundled with with ZS work ?

Thanks Zned people for helping users.

I have Lion, and Full Zend Server 5.6 for Mac Tech Preview.
To properly start MySQL, I first su to root from /usr/local/zend.
Then, I su from root to zend.
Then, I run /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/mysql.server start
That starts MySQL successfully.
Then, I can exit out of the zend su session, and back as root, I run /usr/local/zend/bin/zendctl.sh start
and everything else (but MySQL) gets properly started.

I'd say try that...seems to work cleanly for me, including with Studio 9.
Good luck!
Luis

Is there a way to install only the PHP binary (cli) without HTTP server? I personally never run a full apache instance on my local development machine. I run only unit tests locally and push once all are green. Obviously the big win with using the CE binary is having the Java Bridge available in development.

Hello,

No matter what I try as far as a solution...and I've tried them all in these forums and others, I still am unable to get MySQL to launch. I keep running into this error:

ERROR! Manager of pid-file quit without updating file.

OS X Lion
Fresh download of Zend Server for Mac
Fresh install of Zend Server for Mac (had CE previously, but ran uninstall.sh script before installing Zend Server for Mac)

Any other ideas out there?

Thanks,
Roger
