I did a complete uninstall of Zend Server and reinsalled it. Then I went back through the previous posts and this one actually fixed everything. I DID NOT perform the first part regarding the PATH.

senghor wrote:A tip, add in your /etc/bashrc the following command line to allow you to use the mysql, apache and zend binaries
export PATH=/usr/local/zend/bin:/usr/local/zend/mysql/bin:/usr/local/zend/apache2/bin:$PATH

Mysql doesn't work by me, I cannot start it, I think this for the following reasons:
- permissions for /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/mysql and /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/setup_mysql.sh was wrong by me, I set them to 665. Execute rights were missing.
- permissions /usr/local/zend/mysql/data is wrong. the owner should be "mysql"
- configuration file is in wrong place, copy the file /usr/local/zend/mysql/my.cnf to /etc/my.cnf, be sure to not overwrite an existing one
- set the datadir in /etc/my.cnf
[mysqld]
datadir = /usr/local/zend/mysql/data/mysql

Then you have to launch the script /usr/local/zend/mysql/bin/setup_mysql.sh, it should init the mysql defaults databases (mysql, test, information) then enable MySQL in the file /etc/zce.rc, then start automatically mysql server.

I tried the fix, but I don't have /usr/local/zend/mysql/my.cnf nor /etc/my.cnf
My Terminal said that I don't have a my.cnf at all.

It's a new Lion installation and a new Zend-Server CE installation.

On first boot mysql starts without any problem. After reboot there's no change to start mysql.

I'm having very similar issue on the official release of 5.6 for Mac.

I'm on Lion. I did zendctl.sh stop, then removed the /usr/local/zend dir that had my CE instance in it.

I rebooted, ran the installer, rebooted again, for good measure, and I'm still getting permission/ownership issues with the /usr/local/zend/mysql/data dir and possibly others. I horsed around with the privs (gave data and all it's contents execute, for example, and that seems to be a step in the right direction, but I don't want to be guessing about what should be owned by what, etc. Is there any comprehensive and official word on what the privs need to be on the mysql dirs? When I do a clean install, and haven't modified anything, this is what I'm seeing.

/usr/local/zend/mysql/

Incidentally, I don't see any errors when I do zendctl.sh start or zendctl.sh restart. If I explicitly try to start mysql, this is what I see (before I start playing with modifying ownership, etc.)

UncLab:mysql jsmall$ zendctl start-mysql
Starting MySQL
.. ERROR! Manager of pid-file quit without updating file.

Final note, this is what my zce.rc file looks like. I see mysql is set to true, so I'm not sure why zendctl is not trying to start and stop it, unless it's just smart enough to skip it if it's not properly installed.

UncLab:mysql jsmall$ cat /etc/zce.rc

I don't think you will get answers for Zend Server Community Edition. Here is about the FULL Zend Server which in progress (beta).

I'm a bit confused here. The Full Zend Server for Mac is available for a 30-day trial, but cannot be purchased? What are we supposed to do after 30 days? Deinstall and move to CE?

Full Zend Server for the Mac can be purchased as part of the developer solution product.

Thanks. Is there any plan to allow the Full Zend Server Edition in production environment ? Or is there any reason to use it on production server?
