Upgrades and custom configuration

Post by whissi » Fri Mar 27, 2009 5:09 am

Hi,

I want to know how do you plan to handle upgrades.

For example, I modified the httpd.conf (adding vHosts) and some configuration files like ZendEnablerConf.xml.

I am asking myself how do you plan to handle an upgrade, when you need to edit such a configuration file, which might be modified by the user. Will you parse the file and add/correct it? Replace it? Display a warning and or give the user the possibility to merge it manually? Or just simply replace it and create a backup of the old one? ....
Regards,
Thomas

What is the operative system Zend Server is installed on?

Different logic are applied by the package managers in different distribution.

During upgrades we keep all user modified files/configurations (on all systems) - so you should be OK.
If you do find out that your modifications has been overridden (which did happened during the Beta period), I would appreciate if you will let us know :-)

Thank you for your post!

Hello,

My name is Kirill and actually I'm responsible for the Upgrade in Wondows.
From my side, I would like to detail the issue:
All files from
[pathTo]/ZendServer/etc
[pathTo]/Apache/conf
and some other configurable files and local data will be kept and restored after.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Kirill
