Seems like during the install it didn't detect the prior install of Apache2 and it's trying to run it's own Apache2 install.

EDIT:
I'm installing via CentOS here in a couple of hours to confirm a v5.2 issue.

I think it's one of the RPM post install routines .

I will try to find more information.

I had the same error installing on Oracle Enterprise Linux. I had httpd running on port 80 prior to doing "yum install zend-pe".
Stopping my own Apache and running "zendctl.sh start-apache" resolved the issue.

cjtest - did you have the same issue with the RPM install or was it an issue with the Tarball / CE installation?

Hello,
the reason it failed to restart was probably that it was still in TCP_WAIT, as you can see from the output you attached:

Stopping httpd: [ OK ]
Starting httpd: [ OK ]
Stopping httpd: [ OK ]
Starting httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80
(98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80

I replaced %{_initrddir}/httpd restart with stop and start with a sleep in between to allow Apache to go down before trying to restart it.

Thanks,
