Windows 7

Postby rixth on Tue Jan 27, 2009 10:43 pm

Hi there,

Although this was what I expected, the Zend Server installers do not work in Windows y (I have tried the 'compatibility modes' and running as an admin).

The installer throws an error 1301 when trying to write msvcr80.dll to the c:\windows\winsxs folder.

Regards,
Tom Rix.

We will be supporting Windows 7 but ... not quite yet. We want to let it stabilize a bit first.

Great to know it is on the cards.

I thought I might get away with running it in a VM, but VM's have networking issues on Win7.

Luckily, though, Zend Core does work on Win7, and will be an acceptable substitute until ZendServer supports it.

You would probably get a better response running Virtual Box VM for Windows 7 and then put your Zend Server install on there.

VMWare has issues on Windows 7 (no networking).

For some reason Sun has better luck running Windows 7 using their VirtualBox setup. I still haven't had any difficulties.
