Unable to connect

Postby dcnicoll on Wed Apr 11, 2012 2:03 pm

When I try to load Zend Server I get this error:

Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:10081.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

What is the exact URL you are typing into your browser?

I'm clicking on the SendServer shortcut installed by Zend. The Target is http://localhost:10081/ZendServer/.
I don't understand "localhost" enough to figure this out.

That seems to be the same problem I posted about earlier

Hi,

First let's start with a few assumptions:
1. I assume that you have installed Zend Server on the same machine that is running the browser.
2. This is a Linux server/workstation.

If these assumptions are correct, then the problem is that the Lighttpd server is not running or starting correctly. Take a look in the /usr/local/zend/gui/lighttpd/logs/lighttps.error.log file and see if there is anything relevant in there. Please answer back with the contents of this log and/or the corrections to my assumptions and we can probably help you more.

Regards,
Eric Ritchie.

It is Windows XP (32)
I had Zend Server Running at one time and used ZS without it another (because I learned that it's not needed). However, it may be informative to know that when I try to load Zend Server I now get this error:

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:10081.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I have run netstat -an to see if anything is listening at port 10081 and don't see anything but you can't assume too much about my knowledge of what I'm looking for.

Ok, under Windows you can either work with Apache (delivered by Zend) or with IIS. If you went the Apache route then it should be Apache which is listening on ports 80 and 10081. It sounds like the virtual host relating to the 10081 vhost is broken somehow and is not starting. Can you track down the Apache error log (sorry, I don't know where off the top of my head since I am a Linux guy, but it should be under the top level Zend insatallation path) and see if there are any relevant messages in there. If you cannot find this file, let me know and I will install up a box here and see if I can find it for you.

Regards,
Eric Ritchie.

These 3 attachments are from C:\Program Files\Zend\Apache2\logs.

I started by installing ZendStudio 9.0.2 and then ZendServer. I think my initial problems were due to not understanding were my php files should be stored and "projects". I subsequently downloaded NetBeans and apache which I think was installed at c:\xampp\apache. I've also downloaded and installed phpDesigner 8 and Aptana Studio. With all these installations I wonder if whatever my problem with ZendStudio has been masked or hidden by any of the subsequent installations.

I think these two attachments are probably more revealing about my original problem with ZS.

The next post will have the last 2 attachments.

Due to the file size limitation, this has become more than I expected.
I appreciate any help.
Thanks
