Operation failed. File system input or output error

Hi,

I'm fairly new to Studio 7 - just have a 30-day trial at the moment. I've managed to set up a remote FTP connection and open files to edit, but I keep getting the following error when trying to save a file:

Operation failed. File system input or output error

The only way I can then save it seems to be to close and re-open the FTP connection. Is there a configurable timeout option somewhere?

Actually this is weirder than I thought. I get the error :

Operation failed. File system input or output error

then click 'OK' and the file appears to have saved. The * disappears in the tab, and if I re-open the file from the server it shows the changes. However, when I re-load the page via a URL the changes haven't taken effect.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Have you tried going to Preferences->Remote Systems->DataStore.

Also note: It could be the host, I have one client whos host constantly shuts down FTP connections that are actively transfering

The other thing that happens is that when I go to File-Save As the popup window won't allow me to traverse the complete file system on the remote server, and in particular one directory that has sub-directories won't expand.

Of course, it might also help if I made the remote directory writable by group.

OK, this is getting stranger.

I created a file named 'validator.php' in a directory under public_html on the remote server. I then made some changes and saved it as 'validator2.php' in the same directory.

Then tried the URL http://domain/path/validator2.php

and get a 404 Not found.

Tried re-saving the file in Studio and get a 'file already exists' message. I've checked the paths a dozen times. The file isn't on the remote filesytem and doesn't show up in the remote file browser in Studio. But it's there in the editor and Studio tells me it already exists if I 'Save As'.

So, wtf is the file - or where does Studio think it is?

Hmm, I've now looked at the properties for the file, and it appears to be getting saved on the local filesystem under a /RemoteSystemsTempFiles/ path appended to the local workspace - so it looks like I'm not actually saving to the remote server after all - do I have to do some kind of synching from a local filestore to the remote server somehow?

Have you resolved this issue? I'm having the same problem. I use 5.1 with no file system errors ever looking at upgrading to 7.1 but I get the same error as you.

I have the same problem here.

Zend Studio 7.1.1.v20091227 com.zend.php.ide

I must maybe 30 40 times a day manually reconnect to my target. Is there any patch or workaround for this issue?
