PHP Project from Remote Server fails

Postby thetimp1 on Mon May 23, 2011 10:02 am

Hi There,

I'm having major problems getting an existing PHP project into Zend Studio 8 for Mac OS X - which is basically a show stopper for me.

When I get to the "Remote Configuration" and click Next it does the "Resolving directory structure" and I can see it traversing the directory structure but after about 10-15 seconds it stops scanning and simply sits there with only the Back, Next or Cancel buttons available - I can't move forward.

I have managed to get it to partially import the project by choosing one specific sub directory (as a test) so I'm picking there are one or more files / directories that Zend Studio is having problems importing.

I can't find any log or information that helps me, any ideas (I have also checked .metadata/.log and there isn't anything reported)?

Did I direct this to the wrong support group?

Got to the bottom of it. Looks like the SSH user I was using didn't have sufficient permissions to traverse a directory and as such was tripping up Zend, bit of a shame the UI didn't tell me of that as its taken a few nights to get to the bottom of it. Hopefully this post saves someone.

It is exactly as you wrote "thetimp1" and yes, it saved me a night. What a mess. For what reason I spent 300 EUR (Netbeans can handle it)??? I found posts regarding this problem back to 2008!!! Unbelievable that this has not been solved so far. Really annoying ... The workaround that helped me out: Checkout the project as "root". Change the remote access user afterwards. It's just a view features that brought me to Zend but I am quite sure I will go back to Netbeans in near future.
