Configuring and Connecting to IBM i Zend Server

Each time I open Zend Studio 8 for IBM i, I get the message "Zend Server Not Found." The IBM i is on my local network, and I followed the instructions for manual configuration from the knowledgebase article "Configuring Zend Server Settings in Studio" at http://files.zend.com/help/previous-version/Zend-Studio-7/configuring_zend_server_settings_in_studio.htm, but Studio still doesn't connect to Zend Server. I've attached the configuration. I have no path mapping and no tunneling specified. Any ideas?

There is certainly no way that localhost is the URL of the IBM i server because Studio is not running on IBM i but on you local desktop machines. Also you will either need FTP or SSH support enabled for your IBM i server for file transfer to work.

Okay. I changed the Base URL to http://my.i.ip.address and it isn't working. How do I enable FTP or SSH support on the i?

Sorry ... wasn't really paying attention but it looks like you're trying to set up a local Zend Server. That's not going to work since the Server is remote. What you need to do is set up a remote Server and to transfer the files to the IBM i server you will need FTP or SSH support on your Server. ssh is generally more reliable on IBM i.

Okay. In the remote systems explorer tab, I created a new SSH connection. When I try to access the root directory, I get the error message: Failed to connect sshd on "my.i.ip.addr". I read through the instructions linked to from the other thread, and they all said that on version 6.1 I only need to enter STRTCPSVR *SSHD on the command line. However, even after doing that and checking NETSTAT *CNN, I don't see any local port 22 or "SSH".

no significant change in connectivity has been made for ssh between Studio versions and you're now past my knowledge level and probably need someone with real IBM i knowledge.... Hopefully someone else can help or you can open a ticket with our support group as one benefits of the IBM relationship with Zend is 1 year of free support for new users of Zend product on IBM i.
