I am new to Zend, and am working on a tutorial to get me up to speed.
However, I am a little confused over a very basic issue: The location of the web root.
The tutorial that I am following has a directory structure as follows:
- Code: Select all
Hello World - application
I am a little confused over what the web-root actually is. The zend setup I installed onto my system did not have a web_root folder. Instead it has * 'public'. Is this the same thing?
Therefore my directory structure differs in that it has a 'public' folder instead of a 'web_root' folder. Everything else is the same.
I find web root quite a confusing concept anyway. In this case, it seems to me that files stored in the web_root are therefore not actually located in 'the root of the web application'. Only files stored in the 'Hello World' folder itself, not in a sub directory, should really be called root directory files (and in this case, that means only .zfproject.xml is truly a root directory file - because that is the only file stored in the Hello World folder).
Anyway, I am now at a stage where the tutorial is requesting that I make changes to the registry (index.php) file stored in the Web Root directory. I think that in my case, it means the index.php file within the 'public' folder, but I wanted to make sure in case I am wasting my time doing things incorrectly...
Your help would be appreciated.
