intermittent problem with upload on save to remote server

Post by aseiden » Fri Sep 02, 2011 3:27 am

Zend Studio for IBM i, version 8.0.1, intermittently fails to upload files to an SSH-based remote server connection, when "upload on save" is in effect.

Symptom: Make a change to a PHP script stored on a remote server. Click Save. The file is saved in the workspace, but I know it hasn't uploaded because the server-based PHP application does not reflect the change.

It seems to happen when I edit files that had automatically opened at the time I started Studio (automatically re-opened from my previous session). I don't know if they come from a cache or if they simply reside in the workspace. Such files, when edited and saved, do not always actually upload.

When the problem occurs, I can work around it by: closing the file, re-opening it, making a dummy change, and then re-saving. It will now upload.

I could probably avoid this issue by closing all files before closing Studio, but I'd like to see if the issue can be resolved.

I know that I'm not the only person affected by this issue because customers have reported the same issue to me.

I've pasted Studio's log entries below. First, a bunch of entries from the time when my file failed to upload. Then one entry from after I did the workaround and the file uploaded.

Thanks! Please see the log entries below.

I have experienced the same problem Alan going back over a number of releases. On many occasions the only cure for me was to create a new source file and copy/paste the original code into the new source file.

Like you I find it only happens when the source is already open in the editor. In my case it will happen more frequently after the connection has been broken and then restarted.

I also used to experience this using the FTP client - part of the reason I switched to SSH in the first place. With FTP I reached situations where I had 5 or 6 different copies.
