darkluke,

Not sure if you are interested, but I just moved the entire PHP HTTP server off the IBM i and onto a Linux Server, I am using EasyCom i5_Toolkit to connect to the IBM i from the Linux server and surprisingly it is faster! ZendServer is a poor second cousin of the IBM i, which is a shame, the performance is not the best and getting support is like dragging teeth! PHP is great, pity the IBM i is not the best platform to run it on.

Chris,

we've the same idea! My Company has tested EasyCom toolkit for linux and windows, the solution it's very fast and economic, and especially do not need IBM or Zend.
The problem is to bring customers to this type of solution, the best solution is always to have everything on a single server.

We hope that providence will do something to improve PHP on System i, in each case is important to have an alternative.

Hmm improvements will require a bit of work, the performance is not the best! Most companies are not offended when you say they should install a Linux or windows http server, to be honest I find it much more understandable than the IBM i and trying to locate logs for the servers etc etc etc,... You have IBM HTTP requesting PHP service through the FastCGI port that then calls the EasyCom server to get the i5_toolkit functions. On Linux and Windows the PHP service is an apache module! Yes you still have to call the EasyCom server but how hard is that?

I really like that I make no code changes from one install to the other as far as my web pages are concerned.. If IBM does ever sort out the performance I just move it back! Having said that, have you tried the IBM Systems Director for iNavigator? Paint drying is a lot faster and more interesting :-)

Hope you sort out the missing modules, I am sure they need to be compiled in? In my Linux setup I recompile in 10 minutes not 10 days! :-)

Good luck with support..

Sorry we have missed the open case, we just moved to a new CRM system, probably it slipped out.

I have opened an escalation with our Labs.

The problem will be fixed surely in the next version.

If you will to test a preview of the fix, let us know here.

Thanks for the patience and cooperation.
Best regards,
Massi.

We have the same Problem here. No Freetype Support thus no function......
When can we expect the new Version?

I would be very interested to test a preview fix.

Thank you in advance.

Volker
